Dr. Rendella Lucas Gayton*

Following the passing of our esteemed founder, Dr. Elizabeth Coles Bouey, Dr. Rendella Lucas Gayton took on the mantle of leadership as the second president of our organization. She served from 1957 to 1970, during which time she exemplified remarkable leadership and an unwavering work ethic. Dr. Gayton adroitly upheld and expanded upon the foundational vision established by Dr. Bouey, ensuring that the organization continued to thrive.

 

As a woman of profound faith, innate wisdom, and intellectual rigor, Dr. Gayton was instrumental in the creation of a comprehensive education department, which became a cornerstone of our programmatic offerings. One of her most notable accomplishments during her tenure was the successful liquidation of the mortgage on our Richmond property, a significant financial milestone that enhanced our operational stability and long-term sustainability.

 

Dr. Gayton's deep commitment to the mission of the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Inc. was evident in her collaborative efforts with our founder. Her legacy is a vital thread in the fabric of our organization, continuously inspiring those who have had the honor to work alongside her. Her exemplary character, dedication, and contributions resonate deeply within our community, ensuring that the original vision of our founder remains vibrant and intact for future generations. The impact of her leadership endures, solidifying her role as a pivotal figure in the ongoing narrative of IAMWMW, Inc.
