DAY OF SERVICE

*************************************************************************************************

The sisters of the International Association have put volunteerism into practice and made an impact on local communities. “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve… You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love…” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our visionary leader and founder, Elizabeth Coles Bouey’s dream became reality on April 8, 1941. She had a heart for service which was exemplified in her role as a missionary. This day has been designated as our Day of Service. We follow her lead as we “Act, Give, and Volunteer.”

Each local is encouraged to participate in acts of service on this day or at an appropriate time. We need pictures and a brief description of your day of service projects and community outreach. (PowerPoint or Word format only). The local will send their service information to their State President. The State President will send the local service information to the Regional Vice President to create a regional report.

Email the Day of Service report to Mrs. Lillie Tanks Martin at mlillie068@gmail.com by May 31, 2025. 

A video will be prepared and presented at the International Convention. (Submissions after this date will not be included in the video presentation.)

The Student Affairs Committee of the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows, Inc. offers a scholarship for college-bound students who are children or grandchildren of ministers’ wives or widows. Applicants must be high school graduates of good moral character, active in church life, and planning to attend an accredited college, university, or seminary. A complete application with all required documents is due by June 1st—late or incomplete submissions will not be considered. Selected recipients will be notified by June 10th and must verify their college enrollment before receiving funds. (The scholarship Form is now in a digital format.)
